What is Quaffine?

Our love for coffee transported us to the mountainous terrains of Chikmagalur, where we were captivated by the coffee, its complex, nuanced flavors and a tasty cup of Cold Brew. The pristine estates mesmerized us with a sensory experience and we wanted to capture that moment into a bottle. This bottle.

Quaffine is India’s first Cold Brew Coffee Liqueur made with 100% Arabica beans. No added flavours or boosters. You have to taste it, to know it.

Now available in Goa, Thailand, and Kenya.

700 Years of Tradition

Our label tells a story that spans 7 decades and many continents. It is a story of love, riches, and theft, illustrated with the same care and thought that we put into every bottle of Quaffine that is produced.

Mountains

Represent the hills of Chikmaglur, Karnataka where our single origin coffee is grown at an elevation of 3500ft.

Kaldi's Sheep

Kaldi, a shepherd in Ethiopia, inadvertently discovered the coffee bean while investigating why a certain wild cherry made his sheep energetic.

Baba Budan

A sufi saint who smuggled coffee beans out of Yemen and into India, where he scattered them across the hills we now call 'Budangiri' - the birthplace of Indian coffee.

Arabic Coffee Pot & Grinder

While the Yemenis traded coffee, the Turks pioneered ways of preparing it. An Ibrik is a vessel that was used to heat ground coffee and water to prepare a hot brew.

Numeral 18 in Kannada

Representing the 18 processes in place to produce Quaffine from cultivation, harvesting, fermentation to bottling.

Alembic Still

The alembic stills represent the use of the highest quality of rice neutral spirit.

Elephants

The glorious and majestic symbols of strength and grace, Karnataka's state animal.

Bouquet

In the 1700s, Portuguese envoy Francisco De Mela Palheta secretly obtained coffee plants from French Guyana from the governor's wife (with whom he was having an affair), who gifted him the plants disguised in a bouquet. This led to the introduction of coffee in Brazil in 1727, establishing its future as a leading coffee producer.

An Overflowing Chalice

A fun bit of trivia - The act of clinking vessels and saying "cheers" developed as a way to discourage poisoning among royals. Glass-bumping would cause alcohol to overflow into eachothers' cups - ensuring that everyone bore equal risk!

How to Drink Quaffine

Whether you prefer it straight, mixed with cream for a luxurious White Russian, or blended into your favorite coffee for an extra kick, Quaffine offers a world of possibilities. Elevate your cocktails with its deep coffee flavor, or tantalize your taste buds by incorporating it into desserts for a decadent twist. With Quaffine, every sip is a journey into indulgence.
